As a child who read Harold Keith’s Rifles for Waitie and Stephen Crane’s classic Red Badge of Courage, I throroughly enjoyed reading this book..”

The author carefully crafts a narrative of historical fiction on the pivotal Spring of 1864 during the US Civil War. The season, in a war whose victor was still in doubt, decided the eventual winner of this bloody conflict. the events are seen through the eyes of Generals Grant and Lee as well as other personnel from both Confederate and Federal forces.

This book is highly recommended for lovers of history. Even though it is a work of historical fiction, the author has done a superb job of making the reader feel as if they were part of history.
